what our students say

Thank you for the excellent course. You really changed my point of view and attitude towards photography and taking pictures, beein more critical, focused and serious about the subject.
FM

This was an excellent and most rewarding experience to participate in a unique program that has expanded my knowledge and spurred my interest in new aspects of photography. I can recommend this course to anyone who wants to upgrade his/her photo shooting skills!!! It has made a great difference to me.
JH

I wanted to write a quick note to say a huge thank again for your photography course. It has really changed my perception of how to capture photographs and given me a huge confidence boost and the evidence is real satisfaction from my recent photo taking.
ZZ

Thanks again for hosting this great workshop. This course has made a tremendous difference to me on how I take photos. The facts of learning about lines, colours and shapes have changed my way on how to look at pictures or scenes.
AH

Great workshop where we learn a lot and definitely improved our picture-taking as well as picture-presenting skills.
LB

I enjoyed making the time to focus on taking photos, seeing some new places and meeting nice, talented people. I enjoyed Andrea's passion and sense of humor. It was a load of fun to challenge myself to see Hong Kong and my photography in new ways. I also enjoyed Andrea's relaxed attitude and the overall atmosphere of sharing with others. Thanks again!
MG

Thank you for arranging the advanced photograhpy workshop. Stephen and I have been brainstormed by those enlightening concepts and ideas which do widen our spectrum a lot.
HP

It was a fun and small group which made it interesting. Andrea has a great way of making you see things differently. Would love to join a trip to take pics someplace other than HK.

the photography gourmet
A new season of gourmet photographer's dinner using a new format. Andrea will give out, for each dinner, a photo assignment - roughly one month in advance - to kick start your creativity.

During the dinner we will critique and review your photos related to the assignment, as well as eating the usual yummy italian 3 course meal with fresh ingredients imported from Italy.

Each participant should bring his/her best shoots of the assignment given below.

SEASON II

I.SILHOUETTES
NEW!
The assignment for this dinner is Silhouettes: they make striking images and are an interesting alternative for capturing recognizable landmarks or obscuring someone's identity.

It is all about getting the right exposure on the high contrast between subject and background. The key is to get the black part of an image really black. It is best that the outline of the silhouette is in sharp focus. Dusk and daybreaks are times when you are sometimes forced to make silhouettes, and overcast days can be great as you get moody backgrounds. Wet surfaces are great for silhouettes. In an urban setting like Hong Kong, anything that puts out a lot of light is good, like billboards or giant TV screen.
